The times are a-changing. We’ve been doing dual release for a year now, which means 10-bit has been in common use in fansubbing for longer than that, so everyone ought to be able to play it. Managing 2 softsub releases is just that much more of a hassle, and it looks like the community has accepted Hi10P as the standard.

I believe it’s more than just being able to play it, but I understand. I’m glad you’re still sticking with AVI.

I’d probably do the same, as releasing 3 versions is quite a bit of work.

dunno if it’ll really help, but u can try getting deadfish’s re-encodes. though it won’t be evetaku’s release anymore

Try to use K-Lite. It is awesome codec pack, especially when not installing MPC-HC from the pack, but separately from official source.

You have preview of 10-bit files (all formats) even on 64-bit Win7.

configuration (please ensure not to install the K-Lite shipped version of MPC-HC):
      ——————————————————————————————————-
Required actions for Media Player Classic Home Cinema (MPC-HC) users
after MPC-HC and K-Lite setup completes sucessfully:

      Launch ‘mpc-hc.exe’
Open the ‘View’ menu and click on ‘Options’
      Click on ‘Playback’
      Uncheck ‘Auto-load subtitles’
      Click on ‘External Filters’
Click ‘Add Filter…’, select ‘DirectVobSub (auto-loading version)’
Set ‘DirectVobSub (auto-loading version)’ to ‘Prefer’
Click ‘OK’ on the bottom of the Options window
      Enjoy

          1) Xvid is not as good as h264 (though you could technically do an Xivd softsub if you’re crazy)
          2) It’s hardsub and not softsub (which has its advantages and disadvantages)

Considering even TVs can natively handle h264 now, you’d have to have one hell of an ancient toaster to not be able to handle h264.
But whatevs, LQ Xvid Hardsub is a catch-all.

            My TV doesn’t support softsubs ;_;
For past three years I dreamt about 720p/1080p avis for shows I didn’t want to watch on 5:4. Thankfully I bought 16:9 screen two months ago so there’s no problem now. /blogging

I was hoping for a 8 bit release for this, but I’ll check the 10-bit then.
Anyway, thanks for the release! And will just wait for XViD~
