Sword Art Online Episode 1 Release~

I wanna always be with you!

[Rekyun]: Here’s Nyantaku’s fastest release ever~ Next week might be even faster considering this was the first episode. Thanks to all the Evetaku staff who agreed to help out. I liked the light novels, so I really wanted to do this series despite the simulcast. Pretty short for my first release post ever, but we need to release already. Enjoy~

Pretty fast alright, even faster than the other group that’s doing it, at least.

Nice to have a quality group doing an 8-bit encode so there’s no waiting for re-encodes as well.

    Thanks for the release!

Not really but nyan “sometimes” take longer than expected. xD
I’ll watch whichever comes first then compare the subs for archiving.

Nyantaku has delays because Neibs doesn’t have enough slaves (sometimes none). SAO and Arcana have more than two people on them, so they shouldn’t take too long.

We would’ve been done like two hours earlier had our encodes not been messed up :>
We had to redo our final encodes which lost us ~two hours of time.

Nonetheless, I look forward to competing with you ^^

(Forgot to add that to the end of my last post >_>)

If someone can upload the Xvid file to an IRC bot I will retrieve and help seed, since there are no seeds at the moment.

thank you very much for the episode, also loved the light novel, i wonder how faithful it is~ (hit’s download)

looks pretty good so far, kinda bothered me to near the end where it showed me wrong, thought for most of the ep that it was gonna be one of those animes where they the characters never think…though i wish they showed him thinking to himself more often than just like 2 lines, i wonder if the anime will stretch all of vol 1 of the light novel, and if they’ll include the extras from vol 2

      1. Erxos

They showed Lisbeth and Silica, so I’d presume the entirety of vol 2 will be covered.
I was pleasantly surprised by episode 1 myself, though regardless I ain’t getting my hopes up as I feel LN is the best possibly format for SAO.
That also means it can’t disappoint me though, so I guess it’s a pretty good way to watch it.

Thanks for the release. By the way, Cline should actually be Klein. I have to say that that Cline seems much better but the author himself decided the romanization is Klein. You can find all the romanizations in the second material edition (Caution: there are some spoilers in it about the first 2 light novel volumes) which you can find here:
    http://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index.php?title=Sword_Art_Online:Early_Characters
Moreover, the name Klein is also listed on the monument.

Thanks for pointing that out. Sadly, I was made aware of this after we already released… It will be correctly written as “Klein” from this point on.

When I saw the title I decided to not even bother checking it out, because it sounded like some MMORPG-based action/fantasy shit… But seeing how several of the groups I follow decided to do this show, I tried it anyway. And I was quite surprised at how well this was executed. The setting is nice (though I still think this is going to be more action/fantasy than sci-fi in the long run), the animation/sound is better than average and I think the director did a good job on it.
I would like to know how they can survive when connected. They need real food and water, and they state that the mask does not provide food, yet it appears to cover the whole face so it would also be difficult for outsiders to feed them naturally.

I will check out the light novels, hoping that the author writes at least decently… I’m positively surprised that all volumes are translated on baka-tsuki though : )

    1. sandoe41

I can think of two possibilities for surviving while connected. One is that the faceplate is a simple retractable protective visor for the face, like a m/c helmet has. Two is that subjective time in the game is very different from real world time, similar to what is in Accel World. These are only guesses on my part.

In the LN, Kayaba said in the speech that they would probably all be transfered to hospitals in the near future in order to take care of their bodies. So that means they are feed “unnaturally”, AFAIK you do that by injecting it directly into the blood.

(So I finished the 4th volume, and it appears to derail completely. It was one of those LNs which only should have had one volume but then it actually became popular…)

Saw your translations on ji-hi and decided I was going to go with NyanTaku for Sword Art Online. Don’t let me down, bros.

      1. puddizzle

Dude your 150 left padding made me make a new style just for the next episode preview

        {\an1} only does so much

  8. hmm

You’re translating this from scratch? Nice.

I looked at ji-hi and noticed that everybody’s lines—btw good lord, there’s a gajillion groups doing this—made no sense at all regarding the NerveGear. Either the jargon is way too hardcore for CR and for you, or (more likely) the original creator / scriptwriter was just spouting gibberish? Or their godlike sci-fi writing is way over my head.
