Thanks to the folks at Hiryuu for a great season together.

And we’re very sorry for the delay. Our translator was on vacation.

    Sankarea… sounds nostalgic, I haven’t seen it in weeks…

haha just teasing, thanks for the best translation.

    Hey, guys,

is this really the end of the show? It seems not clear up some points. Will the Rea survive and be able to be human again? That should not end like this…

      1) There’s no logical way for a human, who died and became a zombie, to go back to being human.
      2) Ever heard of an open-ended conclusion? Well, this is an example of one. It leaves room for a second season while also not being too abrupt of an ending.

Well, i could live with such an end. However i think it is kinda too soft for the end. I know, typically an anime has 12 episodes, however this one could extend it to… say 14.

Well, any plans on Blu-Rays and doing season 2?

And so here we see how Studio Deen did it again, starting great with a series and butchering it in the end. Of all the end-of-season episodes I have seen, this is by far the most half-assed one I’ve yet come across.

Sankarea started going to hell after Deen decided to slap a filler episode on our faces right after leaving a cliffhanger in the previous episode (when Furuya was kidnapped), to then air a regular episode to surprise us with yet a second filler immediately afterwards.

I really enjoyed many aspects of this series, such as the artwork, music, voice acting, character development… but Deen did horrors in the series’ storytelling, more notoriously as they closed in to the finale. Though I did enjoy this episode very much, I find it to be very lacking in terms of bringing the show’s first season to a close.

p.d: I wrote this assuming there will be a second season to come sometime in the near future, for if Deen decides to leave the Sankarea animation as it is, then the entire job they did with the storytelling will be nothing short of explosive diarrhea.

My guess would be the 13th ep OVA will actually be a 13th ep and continue the story to some sort of conclusion rather than being some side story like the Ep 00 OVA.

There’s no way this is an ending ep, but the manga is still going, so it might make some sort of sense if they end the series the same as whatever part of the manga they got to. Maybe that will generate more interest and demand for another season if there’s enough manga material for one, or when there is.

Thanks to everyone for doing such a great job on the series. This was definitely the best one by far.

Thank-you to EveTaku and Hiryuu for doing such a sterling job of the translation and subtitling of this series. It’s been very enjoyable.
