AKB0048 Episode 08 (the proper version) Released!

Look at that determination

Aaand the proper encode is finished. Apologies to those of you who were waiting.

In case you missed it, an encoding mishap forced us to release a v0 with some bad frames in it, but it’s all good now. Enjoy the episode.

Also, TIL I’m bad at being a server admin. Hopefully in the future, I can mux everything server-side and release will be faster. This week involved a lot of derping around.

They’re up. It’s just that the site was a bit slow so it took some time to update the post with links.
It only took a couple of minutes to upload (best case scenario) this time around.

The reason there’s a v0 is because of the broken frames…The v1 will be the shiny good version. And will probably be far superior to this version.

    1. puddizzle

We never release 480p during the first wave of release. Besides, Kage will probably wait until the v1 to do the encode – I supposed he could freezeframe the frames that are a problem, but it’s less effort to wait for the v1. You can wait a day or two more for the 480p version, right?

You know, I was going to make a satirical, apathetic retort, but I’ll refrain myself.

      Refer to the above reply.

tbh bad frames aren’t that big of a problem here, almost unnoticeable, shouldn’t affect viewing experience.

Thanks for the wonderful subs. Actually waiting for v1, but still, thanks for all the previous episodes. I simply love this anime a lot and am so glad that there’s someone out there who is providing subs so that all other foreign fans can watch and understand this fully.

Shockingly, the new encodes do patch from the old ones with a reasonably sized patch. Who’da thunk?

Post updated with patches for both versions. Thanks for the heads-up.

Hey guys, in the 7th episode, I didn’t understand the line: The one about “enough something-or-other”? (about the lyrics).
Can you explain to me please?

  3. Hazy

@20:03 I… don’t want to give up yet.

    i’m kinda troubled by this.
what did she mean? give up being Takamina the 5th?
does that mean if she graduates that’s already called giving up? it doesn’t sound right ._.
what if she just graduates normally? not being forced because Kanata has to be in her position supposedly.
you know when the time comes she has to graduate like the other successors whom they succeeded.
really, i’m just troubled by it because there’s “yet” word which means not yet, but will do it in the future. >.<

      1. Hazy

your answer didn’t convince me ._.
well she said she didn’t want to graduate yet. so basically, when the time she graduates, she’s already giving up, u call that giving up? what if she just graduates normally? or when the time comes she has to graduate? because putting “yet” (mada [romaji[) on her line was kind of off unless she’s talking about that time during the selection for Takamina the 5th, she’ s not giving up yet because there’s still hope to be the 5th but on the subs, it’s “i don’t” not “i didn’t” which talked about the present events ._. mataku, mendokusai >.<

        1. lygerzero0zero

          I think you’re overthinking it.

She doesn’t want to quit and give up on her dream. That’s all that line means.

          1. Hazy

            you’re right i guess. i think i’m overthinking it :l
just bothered by the “yet” /sigh

  4. layfon

i still cant see any subs for episode 8.. previous episodes i still be able to see subs.. have found no errors in any codecs as i have updated recently.. i’m using classic media player ver 6.4.9.1 for all my animes and dramas but only this episode i am unable to see any.. weird~~

  5. Agly

There is something else I didn’t understand in the 7th episode: When Takamina will graduate, Kanata will be the new Takamina. But, why “graduate” ? She doesn’t just leave the band? What is it after succession?

    1. Agly

Also, why Takamina is the captain? I thought there was no captain anymore in 0048. Is there a difference between captain and center?

      1. Hazy

not a big deal, that’s just how it’s called. and captain and center is different. center is only like that person will be the leader, placing her on the center when they’re singing a certain song. captain is overall, like u know just like in sports, team captain.

          1. Hazy

i already answered that on my first sentence. when someone graduates, she’s leaving the group.

          2. Prologue

Dunno if anyone’s going to read this a week after, but here goes.

Re-read your first sentence: “not a big deal, that’s just how it’s called.” It’s not very explanative, since there was another question between your answer and the question you’re answering.

Graduation in present day terms mean they leave the group. It could also be associated with the highschool girl concept AKB uses a lot, from logo to uniforms, to concert props. After graduation, well, you get on with life. Many present day members hope to become actresses after. In 0048, Mariko-sama became manager of AKB0048.

          3. Hana

Graduation just mean leaving the group because someone want to go solo, focus on their education, or just don’t want to be an idol anymore. It came from the group Morning Musume, and AKB48 use them as well.

  6. Kitty

graduate means to leave the group. whether or not they can still be associated with the group is up to you. the member/ex-member’s otaku will say yes, but really, no.
