Figured it’s about time to start thinking about stuff.
Next season! We’re not really sure whats going on. A bunch of our staff have joined with folks from various other groups to form Tsumiki Fansubs, which plans to sub Acchi Kocchi next season. Hence the image at the top of this post. Go and check them out.
Other than that, EveTaku doesn’t really have any concrete plans. Senna was interested in doing Natsuiro Kiseki, which I wouldn’t mind translating. I was hoping to take next season relatively easy, after the 12 hours a week I usually devote to InuBoku. Nothing’s final, though, so suggestions are welcome. Personally, nothing caught my eye as something I’d really really want to translate myself, but I’m open to input. Puddi is still uncertain whether his schedule/parents will allow him to pick up a show, and escro is off working on Acchi Kocchi, so I’m the guy to convince if you want to see us sub a show.
I won’t put up a poll because we don’t even have a list of choices. So, discuss away!
In other news, we will most definitely be doing the A-Channel OVA that is coming out approximately right now. Give it some time, though. There’s also been a new Satou Jun’ichi OVA announced, titled One-Off, which I definitely want to translate when it comes out. That might be many months in the future, though.
Oh how I wish we could do Nazo no Kanojo. Alas…
Depends on what other groups are doing it and if I have time to read some of the manga before airing.
The premise sounds really weird but then again, I didn’t think Onani Master Kurosawa could be good, either.
The premise IS really weird. I’m really weird, though. It’ll be an anime original story based on the characters from the manga. So I can’t say how it will progress; but I was hooked on it after the first few chapters.

mmm thinking about shows that seem interesting (at least to me) and that i’d really prefer watching from you guys instead of, I don’t know, commie (because of your translation style and dedication) would be Hyou-ka and/or tsuritama, but it’s really up to you guys, choose something that motives you since you are the ones putting all the effort after all. Either way, keep up the good work, it’s really appreciated.

If you do decide to do Natsuiro, then it’ll be fine. I really love your work with Tamayura~h~. it has that quirky touch thats just so like that show and I suspect Natsuiro is also the same.
I would probably suggest Accel World, and Kore wa Zombie desu ka S2. Natsuiro Kiseki would be nice. I can’t get enough of cute girls and slice-of-life shows.
This maybe a bit advance but, you should try to consider Sword Art Online on summer.

Well, I would go for Sankarea. Really liked the manga (although dropped it at some time because reading manga on the net aint sth for me).

Take Ad Lib Anime Kenkyuujo and Tamayura ~Hitotose~ BD into completion.
The Tamayura BDs are still coming out AFAIK. We can’t exactly release before the BDs actually go on sale. In any case, most of the work on them is being done by skullking123 over at Nishishi, until the volume that contains the extra episode comes out (in which case I’ll have to translate, of course).
As for Ad-Lib… when we work up the motivation.

I’d also like to suggest the unsubbed specials for the Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei series. There’s a torrent of raws on Nyaa by Henshin, if you’re interested in taking a look. If there aren’t any seeds, I can send them to you through XDCC.
I don’t know much about next season’s shows, and I have final exams, so I’ll probably only start picking up new stuff to watch after May.

Good lord, I know my limits. I doubt I’ll be translating Nisio Isin any time soon. Besides, the existing translation for Nise is fine, especially considering there are plenty of other groups TLCing it or planning on doing the Blu-Rays.
If nobody at all has subbed the SZS specials then maaaybe I’ll take a look, but I doubt I can handle something that reference-heavy. Combined with various other factors, there’s a good reason people are reluctant to work on Zetsubou Sensei.
Haha, alright. Guess I’ll just have to watch the SZS specials when I’m an 80-year-old master of the Japanese language.
Just took a look at next season’s shows, and I saw Sakamichi No Apollon. Shinichiro Watanabe and Yoko Kanno are on it; shit’s gon’ be legendary. Maybe you’d be interested in doing that? Jazz is always good. :3

To be honest, based on the manga, its really more echi than just guns itself.
Considering it’s Evetaku… I suggest Accel World, Hyouka, and Acchi Kocchi. Alternatives would be Kuromajo-san ga Touru, Haiyore! Nyaruko-san, Sankarea, or Upotte.
I don’t really expect you to sub Medaka Box (that’s more of an anime I’d associate with Hiryuu, anyways).
I suggested Acchi Kocchi, but I’m more likely to take Ahodomo’s version (or Ahotaku… dunno, either way, AHO!)
So far as I know, all the staff from both Ahodomo and EveTaku who want to work on Acchi Kocchi are now over at Tsumiki. Loli Lovecraft has an official stream (and I’m not personally interested enough to work on it, even if the stream TL is bad). Sankarea seems to be covered by other groups, though I am looking forward to watching it.
Accel World, possibly. I was hoping to check out the LNs beforehand but alas, the NYC Kinokuniya never seems to stock LNs before their anime adaptations air (I could download scans, but reading that much text off the computer hurts my eyes). Hyouka probably has plenty of sub groups, too.
After seeing people mention it, I looked into Tsuritama and it actually seems interesting. Noitamina shows are prone to simulcasts though, and the translations for those have always been good so far as I’ve seen.

Well, two series that haven’t been mentioned that might (or might not) be something you guys would be interested in are Saki: Achiga-hen episode of side A and Shining Hearts ~Shiawase no Pan~
I’d suggest Achiga-hen because rather than a sequel to the original Saki, it’s a side story that focuses on totally different characters. It’s also being handled by a different studio than either of the ones that did Saki (which may or may not be a good thing). And anway, it’s more mahjong. And mahjong is fun, right?
Shining Hearts is based off of an RPG by Sega. Looks to be a fantasy-themed series which you don’t see many of nowadays. I have no clue what it’ll be like since I have no knowledge of the game series, but given the series’ subtitle, it might be lighthearted and fun.

Nah, it’s just mahjong terms, and terms are just terms. It’s not like I’ll be faced with a flood of tricky puns, difficult idioms, or obscure references to old manga/TV shows. While it’s true that it’s not a direct sequel, and I wouldn’t have to worry about season 1, I really don’t think I know enough mahjong.
You may not need to know mahjong to understand the show, but to translate is a different matter.
well its true that the terms arnt difficult theyre numerous and repetitive, like grinding in a MMO
and there is no really good way to explain the terms without TL notes, well TL note arnt really a good way to handle it either
there is of course the option of just not explaining the terms but that kinda takes away from the experience (unless of course the viewer knows the terms already, which i assume would be the minority of people watching the subbed version)
and of course it would take extensive knowledge of Riichi(or Reach) mahjong to translate

as someone who actually plays mahjong
I didn’t think there was much of a problem with the first season. Yes, there were a lot of matches. And yes, they used mahjong terminology. But because of how each scene was set up, I didn’t feel as a viewer (with no prior knowledge of mahjong) that I was missing out. You knew who was ahead, you could hear each of the players thoughts on what they needed and what their strategies were. The intricacies of the game didn’t matter as much because of how interesting the interactions among all of the players in the match were.
Also, the mahjong aspect is really just a means to an end: having cute girls interact with each other, forming friendships, rivalries, etc. This is an anime after all, and there is a target audience as this PV makes clear: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VND5uoqLxfA
As far as basic information on mahjong itself, there are Wikipedia articles for both mahjong and Japanese mahjong, and I’m sure there are other online resources as well.
Anyway, it was simply a suggestion, and as I noted above in my original post, I knew it might not be something EveTaku would be interested in so I’m fine with whatever decision they make.
If you care about mahjong terms when watching Saki, you’re doing it wrong.

We’ve got the raw and hellborn has started encoding. No guarantees, I’m busy as hell this weekend. Then again, A-Channel should only take 2-3 hours an episode to translate (versus 8-12 hours for InuBoku).

I already suggested this series, but I’m going to officially throw my vote in for this one as well. FansubDB has Commie listed as possibly subbing this but not definitely. And if they don’t decide to sub it, I’ll be stuck with Hadena or Ruri (the latter of which I’ve never heard of before).
