Inu x Boku SS Episode 12 (END) Released!

It’s over. ;_;

And with this, another project comes to an end. It was a wonderful ride.

Oh yeah: Forgot to mention it last night. The line at the very end of the episode is in fact the same line from the beginning of episode 1, although you’ll notice it was translated differently. That was a stupid (and important) error on my part back in episode 1. The script in the script archive is updated to reflect the change, and it will also be reflected in the for-realz-this-time v2s.

Final thoughts

lygerzero0zero (translator): I remember first hearing about this new anime called Inu x Boku SS and reading up on it a bit on Wikipedia. The premise sounded interesting, and I thought I might want to translate it, so I found manga raws and started reading. Soon enough, what started as “background research” had me hooked, and I became a huge fan of the manga in its own right. This is probably the most difficult project I’ve undertaken yet, as well as the most time-consuming and draining, but it was overall a fun and rewarding experience. A huge thanks to all the other staff who made this project possible!

lunr (timer): Karuta~ <3

Jeffrey-sama (editor): Inu x Boku SS was the first show that I worked on as an editor here at EveTaku. I had a great time working with everyone involved and am definitely looking forward to future projects. This season, I’ve learned two things about fansubbing: 1) Editing is not as simple as correcting grammar. The flow of dialogue is extremely important too, and there were times where I spent a while trying to reword a line that sounded awkward to me. 2) Typesetting requires patience and perseverance. Props to dae, fara_ujde, lygerzero0zero, and anyone who TSed for doing such a great job. Lastly, Ririchiyo & Karuta = <3.

Senna_Wong (editor): Another season, another series over, it feels more fleeting than a dream!
Inu x Boku SS was a really enjoyable series for me, and being able to fool around as an “editor” gave me a much earlier look than most at the adorable antics going on within Ayakashi Hall, as well as helping me understand myself a bit more, since, like Ririchiyo, I tend to have a hard time saying the right things to others. Even though it’s over, Inu x Boku SS will be one of those anime series that I’ll remember for a long, long time to come, if not forever, in large part due to the extensive translation/lore notes so thoughtfully provided by lygerzero0zero. I’d like to thank the crew of EveTaku for once more putting me to use, and I’d like to thank everyone who has checked out our releases this season! With luck, we’ll be seeing each other again soon for Spring, 2012!

dae (typesetter): I want to thank all the EveTaku staff for bearing with me during this, my first venture into typesetting an anime. Lyger taught me a lot, and I pored over many tutorials. I have a penchant for perfectionism, and it often resulted in late night releases. If I’m dissatisfied with something, I’m vocal about it, but I think the quality of the work we performed helped our viewers’ immersion. I look forward to my next project with EveTaku, and hope our viewers will find the next show we pick up a little bit easier to navigate with our assistance :3 . Thanks for watching, everyone!

We’ll get a batch out soon-ish. There aren’t many script corrections left to make, which just leaves a few typeset updates.

Anyway, we hope you all enjoyed InuBoku as much as we did!

Oh yes, this will probably be included with the batch release:

*sigh* And I suppose I should give an update on our other projects before people ask.

Tormaid’s apparently been sick all week, hence no AnoNatsu. Also, A-Channel OVA 1 is up to the typesetting stage. Unless y’all don’t mind us doing what we did with the TV series, i.e. just putting a “Sign: [translation]” at the top of the screen.

    This episode made me thankful that it was Hidaka Rina and not Kugimiya Rie who voiced Ririchiyo ^^;

    Guys.. Thanks for the hard work…
    Now, how will I get over the pain of not seeing Ririchiyo-sama all at least once a weekend? ;_;

    Thank you for going above and beyond for this for this series. I had the pleasure of seeing you put the “official” translation from Hor/CR in it’s place…

  11. jpd

    With the “Oh yeah” note, are you refer to the translation of 重み: (is a) burden -> (means) everything? Because I don’t see that big error: everywhere I found “importance” or “weight” for the translation… Can you explain why you think that is an error, please?
    Thanks in advance for the reply.
    And obviously: thanks so much for your version of this anime, I found it the best!
    Very, very, very good job!

    1. lygerzero0zero

      Mostly as a matter of connotation (“burden” is always negative, whereas the sentence should be neutral) and because I was confusing 重み and 重荷.

      1. jpd

        I see. I didn’t think to that connotation, in my mother tongue even “weight” can be negative (but not always like burden). I didn’t considerate the confusion of kanji, because in the first episode there are kanji of the dub for that line. But i see that the pronunciation are “omomi” and “omoni”, it’s easy to misunderstand.
        What can I say? “Even the best fall down sometimes” :)
        Another thanks! (It never hurts)
