So we FINALLY released the first BD volume! Despite the fact that the third volume is out already! Woohoo…
Staff:
Same as for the TV versions with the addition of:
QC/Editing: Imako
Insert song karaoke: lygerzero0zero
Distro, encoding: YuSaKu, Squiggy
So that’s the first two releases of the day. What’s the third? Who knows…
Once again, the torrents contain everything (episodes 1, 2, and the specials) while the DDLs are all separate.

Yata! I’ve been looking forward to this. Thanks!
>800mb for a 720p episode
sure is coalgirls in here
*whistles* I didn’t even realize it was that big. o__o
I hope you’ll consider a re-encode. I prefer your version but I can’t afford the extra hard drive space for something that horribly bloated. I could store 2 eps of Doki’s version for every one of EveTakus. :( (And yes, hard drive space is an issue for me, I’m running out and can’t afford to buy additional hard drives.)
/me straightens top hat and puts on another monocle.
At 780MB for 720p the file sizes were a surprise, but they ran amazingly smoothly on my crappy laptop and looked and sounded great on my home theatre big screen. Best encodes I’ve seen since Thora-prime.
btw, nothing against Coalgirls, but their 720p make the same laptop hack and choke to death even with much smaller files. That’s part of why I’m so impressed with your release.
You can thank YuSaKu for a job well done on that. ^^ He basically popped out of nowhere and offered to help encode the BDs for us.
Thanks for doing these BDs! Glad I waited instead of getting Doki cause I really loved your release :D
Another reason why your release is so large is because you have two FLAC tracks instead of one. I got episodes 01-04 done at about 330MB per episode with FLAC, but I used 10bit.
In my humble opinion, 1080p can have FLAC, 720p can probably make do with AAC and a reasonable size (200-400MB, depending on individual episodes’ requirements).
Because I mean really, if someone cared about quality enough to prefer FLAC over AAC, why would they choose 720p instead of 1080p.
Because most of the time, 1080p is a waste since the source was not created at that resolution. So far, there have been maybe a dozen shows that actually were produced at 1080p and thus worth being donwloaded like that. Most people get 1080p because it’s supposed to be better, but it’s actually pacebo. I will always encode my 720p with FLAC 16bit. 24bit for FLAC is overkill though.
I’m pretty sure a lot more than a dozen shows are produced in 1080p.
Besides, studio upscales generally look better than upscaling ourselves, and if you don’t have a monitor large enough to need to upscale 720p, then you probably don’t care about video quality.
Will the difference be very large?
No.
Is the difference between FLAC and AAC very large?
No.
720p -> AAC
1080p -> AAC or FLAC
OK, my bad, I meant to say that I haven’t SEEN more then a dozen shows produced in 1080p. And yes, to really see the difference between 1080p and 720p you need a pretty big monitor.
Also, the difference between FLAC and AAC, size wise, is quite large in some cases.
30 minute AAC 320kpbs: about 60MB
30 minute FLAC 16bit: about 130MB
30 minute FLAC 24bit: about 260 MB
Also, I made a mistake. I usually use AAC 320kbps on 720p.
I agreed with sinkingmist. FLAC with 720p is over killing. AAC is great enough to have with overall size around 300 to 400 MB.. FLAC is ok with 1080p. i think there are not much difference between flac and aac audio unless someone have too damn good sound system.
Not really. Maybe if you have a 1500$ sound system you’ll hear the difference. IMO, AAC 320kbps is enough for 2.0 sound. For 5.1 just use 640kbps. I know the math doesn’t sound right, but not all 6 channels will be active at once, so yeah, it good.
I’ll convince to use Vorbis/AAC instead
Easily saves 200mb/ep
Don’t youse vorbis. Use AAC 320 kbps.
Why dont you like vorbis?
And… Are these scripts (http://www.mediafire.com/?73v57uluxilx6) from bd version?
I’ve already have great 720p raws made by guy from yousei-raws, who likes 720p.
Those are the updated TV scripts. There’s very little difference with the BD version but since every raw is different, the timing will probably be slightly off. The only other big difference is insert song karaoke.
Thanks.
So, will you upload BD version scripts?
Hmm, I guess just me being paranoid, but shouldn’t this post have the a channel tag? I dunno, I just feel like its gonna be lost in the future
Oh, no, thanks for reminding me. I always forget to tag posts. If it happens again just mention it.
is yusaku still going to encode this?
@shredder:
Yes, we’re on Volume 5 of the BD’s. Patience, we’ll get there.
@dmonhiro
So nice that you could tear yourself away from Doki long enough to come lecture a better group on how to fansub. BTW your hi10P version looks terrible. Want me to show you how to do it properly? (Yes HM, I’m asking if you want me to 10-bit this xD)
I like how fansubbers comment in other fansubbers site telling them what to do. Let people do their releases however the hell they want. And FYI, 600-800mb for *BLU-RAY* 720p is perfectly acceptable. Especially if it has FLAC. Not to mention two FLAC tracks, one is commentary, which is a plus. And yes FLAC is a *good* thing in 720p. The actual video encode is about 550mb. I never download 1080p. (my pc can’t handle it) But I never download 720p without FLAC. If I have to find a release with FLAC audio and remux it with a better video, I will. I will post a comparison here and in BakaBT offer comments; showing just how 10bit can’t magically help incompetent encoders encode.
Hi, can you guys reupload or reseed this. I can’t seem to find a mirror anywhere and I like your group fansub best :D
Yeah, would be nice to see this reseeded, even if just the specials. Of all the A-Channel torrents, this seems to be the only one with no seeds…
WHERE ARE ME A CHANNEL BDs I NEED MY SLICE-OF-DERP RUN AND TOHRU AND NAGI (and I guess Yuko too) PLEASE FINISH THEM OR I WILL CRY
